Description

You will need this approval if you intend to establish an offensive trade in an Underground Water Pollution Control Area. Offensive trade includes industries such as:

  • abattoirs or slaughter houses
  • bone mills or bone manure depots
  • cleaning establishments
  • manure works
  • piggeries.

Underground Water Pollution Control Areas are generally declared in order to protect underground sources of fresh drinking water. A map showing the location of Underground Water Pollution Control Areas is available from the Agency.
