Bulk Controlled Waste Vehicle / Tank Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to transport bulk controlled waste or a packaged controlled waste on a road in Western Australia. Controlled waste refers to waste that is produced by, or as a result of:

  • an industrial or commercial activity
  • a medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, pharmaceutical or other related activity
  • activities carried out on or at a laboratory
  • an apparatus for the treatment of sewage.

Controlled waste includes

  • sewage
  • chemicals
  • asbestos
  • tyres
  • food processing waste.

Packaged controlled waste is a controlled waste transported in a container. Bulk controlled waste includes all liquids that are transported in a bulk tanker.

To apply for this licence as an individual, organisation or business you must also be licensed as a Controlled Waste Carrier. Each individual driver engaged by a carrier must also be licensed as a Controlled Waste Driver.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • hold a controlled waste carrier licence
  • provide a certified tank integrity certificate
  • attach a copy of your tank spill management plan
  • provide a copy of the current vehicle registration papers
  • complete the relevant application form
  • submit the required fees.
