Crowd Controller Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to act as a crowd controller. A crowd controller is sometimes known as a bouncer or doorman. Crowd controllers, as part of their duties in any licensed premises, place of entertainment or public or private event or function:

  • control or monitor the behaviour of people
  • screen people seeking entry and
  • remove people for behavioural reasons.

You may not require this licence if you are working as an usher, ticket collector or turnstile operator at an unlicensed venue. You may only work as a licensed crowd controller if you are employed by a crowd control agent, unless you are a sole trader, in which case you will also require a crowd control agent's licence, which must be applied for separately.

Please note that as a crowd controller you are not permitted to carry any weapons whilst performing crowd control activities.

If you are an interstate visitor and hold an equivalent licence in your home state or territory, you may be able to apply for a temporary licence of up to one year. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be over the age of 18
  • be deemed a fit and proper person
  • provide two personal character references
  • possess a current First Aid Certificate
  • have evidence of your completion of a Certificate 2 in Security Operations with an approved training provider
  • agree to the Security Industry Code of Conduct
  • have successfully completed a written examination based on the content of your training course;
  • complete the required forms and
  • pay the prescribed fees.

You may be required to give your fingerprints and palm prints.

Duration

Licences are initially issued for one or three years. Licences are renewed for three years thereafter.
