You may require this approval if you intend to undertake any development or building activity.
Development and building activity includes demolition, erection, construction, alteration of, or addition to any building or structure, or carrying out any excavation or other works. It also includes changing the type of business activity or purpose that land can be used for. Examples of types of specified land use include residential premises or a caravan park.
Local and regional planning schemes and interim development orders provide guidance on what types of development and building activities require approval. This information is available on the Western Australian Planning Commission website. In some instances, approval from the commission will be required instead of, or in addition to, approval from your council.
Please consult with your council to determine whether approval is required for your proposed development.
