Land Valuer's Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to carry out land valuations. Valuations cover the process of inspecting a property, ascertaining legal ownership and the interest held, and gathering relevant information such as the prices that similar properties sell for.

A firm or corporation may carry on a land valuing business so long as every valuation of land it undertakes is made by an officer of the firm or corporation who holds a land valuer's licence.

Mutual recognition is available is you are licensed as a land valuer in another State or Territory of Australia.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Provide evidence that you are of good character and competent to carry out the duties of a licensed valuer (two independent business referees, including one from a licensed land valuer); and
  • Be a member of the Australian Property Institute; or
  • Hold a relevant degree, diploma or certificate and have satisfactory practical experience in the valuation of land (for the period of 2 years preceding your application, or a total of 4 years of practical experience over the past 10 years); and
  • Provide an original National Police Certificate not more than three months old.

Please note that the agency may require you to appear before it to demonstrate any or all of the following:

  • A satisfactory level of general valuation experience, including the provision of three valuation reports completed by the applicant within the preceding three months;
  • A satisfactory level of knowledge of local conditions pertaining to the valuation practice;
  • A good understanding of relevant local legislation; and
  • A satisfactory knowledge and understanding of the Code of Conduct.
