Motor Vehicle Repairer's Certificate - Western Australia

Description

You will require this certification if you intend to carry out or supervise motor vehicle repair work, either as a business owner or as an employee. Repair work includes tasks such as:

  • examining motor vehicles
  • diagnosing and detecting faults
  • adjusting, servicing and maintaining motor vehicles
  • overhauling
  • replacing parts
  • painting.

You can only carry out or supervise repair work for the particular class of repairs for which you are qualified. You may apply for certification for more than one class of repair work if you hold the appropriate qualifications and these will be endorsed on your certificate.

You may not require this certificate if your work is being supervised by someone who is certified for the class of repairs you are carrying out. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate, you must:

  • hold a qualification (Certificate II or Certificate III) or Trade Certificate in your area of repair speciality or demonstrate experience in repairs
  • provide relevant documents and evidence to support your application
  • obtain a National Police Certificate
  • submit the required forms
  • pay the prescribed fees.
