Teacher Registration - Western Australia

Description

You will require this registration if you intend to teach in an educational venue. An educational venue includes a school, kindergarten, child care centre and detention centre. There are four categories of registration:

  • full registration
  • provisional registration
  • limited registration
  • non-practising registration.

Registration is not required for all forms of teaching. Registration is not required if you are undertaking any of the following:

  • teaching a programme as part of an approved VET course
  • working as a trainer or assessor under the Australian Quality Training Framework
  • delivering an educational programme outside a recognised school curriculum.

An application for limited registration must be made by an employer. If you are an employer and you have made an offer of a teaching position to an individual (a nominee), you may apply for limited registration on behalf of the nominee. An application for limited registration should be made where the individual you intend to employ does not meet the requirements for full or provisional registration.

Unpaid volunteers who are solely or principally responsible for the delivery or administration of certain educational programmes must also apply for registration.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
