Export Establishment Registration - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this registration if you intend to operate an establishment or premises used for the preparation of certain goods for export.

Prescribed goods include:

  • Meat and meat products (including game meat and poultry);
  • Processed and live fish;
  • Dairy produce;
  • Eggs and egg products;
  • Organic produce;
  • Fresh and dried fruit and vegetables; and
  • Certain prescribed grains (wheat, barley, oats, sorghum, field peas, lupins and mung beans).

Additional approvals may be required to supply meat, fish or dairy products to certain overseas markets.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A plan of the establishment will need to be submitted demonstrating how the establishment will meet the prescribed standards in regards to:

  • Construction of premise;
  • Equipment;
  • Hygiene; and
  • Security.

Following this, you will need to submit relevant forms together with the application fee. If the establishment is considered to have reached the specified standard, an inspection of the establishment is conducted.
