Authorised Vehicle Examiner - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this authorisation if you are a mechanic and you intend to inspect vehicles for registration purposes or issue authorised certificates. Authorised examiners are appointed with the power to inspect vehicles, on an approved premises, up to 4.5 tonne GVM as part of the registration process.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for appointment as an authorised examiner, you must:

  • be a motor mechanic with a qualification in relation to the mechanics of vehicles that is determined by the Agency to be an acceptable qualification for that class of vehicle
  • have not, during the last 5 years, been convicted or found guilty of an offence involving fraud or dishonesty
  • not be disqualified from applying
  • be a suitable person to be an authorised examiner.

Additionally, you must attend a training workshop organised by the Agency for your application to be approved.
