Bus Service Accreditation - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this accreditation if you intend to operate a bus service for hire and reward within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The types of bus services which need accreditation include:

  • long distance or interstate bus services that picks up passengers within the ACT
  • regular route bus services which operate to a timetable
  • demand response bus services
  • tour and charter bus services which collect passengers within the ACT.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this accreditation you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • be at least 18 years old
  • meet the suitable persons requirements
  • hold a certificate of Transport Management (if operating 5 or more buses).
