You will need this approval if you have built a heavy vehicle according to an approved performance based standards (PBS) design approval. A heavy vehicle is a vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) or an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of more than 4.5 tonnes.
To gain this approval a PBS approved certifier will inspect the heavy vehicle to ensure that it was built according to the design specifications. If the certification inspection is satisfactory, an approval will be issued.
Your vehicle may have restricted or be denied road access in certain states. If you are notified of any restrictions placed on your vehicle you will need a class 2 performance based standard access approval.
