Performance Based Standards Vehicle Approval - Australian Capital Territory

Description

All vehicles built in accordance with a design under the performance based standards (PBS) will need vehicle approval (VA) before they can be driven on roads.

PBS vehicle approval is intended for heavy vehicles that will operate with mass limits, dimensions or design requirements that exceed the standards and regulations prescribed under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).

VA applications must be submitted by an approved PBS assessor

When you are submitting a PBS vehicle approval, you must have regard to:

  • the relevant approved guidelines and rules
  • the advice of the PBS Review Panel.

Your application must be made with the approved form and accompanied by:

  • the PBS design approval on which the heavy vehicle was built
  • a certificate for the vehicle issued by a PBS approved certifier
  • any other information requested.
