Description

You will require this approval if you intend to undertake any offshore petroleum and greenhouse gas storage activities, including exploration, recovery or transportation. Offshore means areas outside the state and territory 3 nautical mile boundaries.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, the relevant activity must be, or be part of, an offshore project approved by the authorising authority.

The environmental plan application must contain all necessary information, including but not limited to:

  • description of the activity and the existing environment, including details of the relevant values and sensitivities of the environment
  • an implementation strategy for the activity
  • a description of any legislative requirements that apply to the activity and are relevant to the environmental management of the activity
  • environmental performance outcomes and standards to measure the protection of the environment

The environment plan must be developed in consultation with relevant authorities, persons and organisations and should include a report of all consultations.

You must submit a revised Environment Plan at the end of each five year period.
