Medicinal Cannabis Licence - Australian Government

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to cultivate, produce or manufacture cannabis and / or engage in related activities for medicinal or scientific purposes.

This licence authorises you to:

  • grow cannabis plants (cultivation)
  • remove resin, flowers or fruiting tops from the plant (production)
  • transform cannabis and resin into a drug or extract (manufacture).

After you get a licence, you need to apply for a permit. You can’t start activities until you have both a licence and relevant permits.

Authorisation to grow, produce or manufacture cannabis in Australia is a two-part process:

  1. get a medicinal cannabis licence
  2. get relevant permits.

You can apply for medicinal cannabis permits allowing:

  • cultivation and production
  • manufacture.

The permits you need will depend on the activities you want to undertake.
