Nominated Carrier Declaration - Australian Government


You will require this declaration if you are the owner of one or more network units intending to nominate a licensed telecommunications carrier to supply carriage services over those units to the public, such as telephony or internet.

Network unit includes a length of telecommunications cable or a radiocommunications base station that meets certain legislative requirements.

Nomination occurs in circumstances where the owner of the network unit does not wish to hold a carrier licence and an exemption does not apply.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this declaration, you must:

  • provide the consent of the owner or each of the owners of the network units
  • provide evidence of the nominee accepting responsibility for the units
  • detail the network units subject to the application
  • hold all relevant licences.
