Non-Protection Zone Installation Permit - Australian Government

Description

You must apply for this permit if you intend to install submarine telecommunications cabling in Australian waters that are not in a protection zone and that are not coastal waters of a State or the Northern Territory.

A Non-Protection Zone permit (Non-PZ) is required for proposed installations outside areas that have been declared as protection zones. From the low-water mark to a water depth of 2000 metres is considered a protection zone. If you install any part of the cable inside a protection zone then you will be required to also apply for a separate permit called a Protection Zone permit.

The Agency has advised that all protection zones are marked on relevant hydrographic charts.
