Residential Care Home Approval - Australian Government

Description

If you intend to provide government-funded residential aged care, you must seek approval for each care home you intend to operate. Approval is required in addition to your aged care provider registration. 

Residential aged care is accomodation provided to older people who can no longer live independently and includes access to personal care, nursing and general health care services.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for residential care home approval, you must be a registered provider of aged care in the residential care category or have submitted an application for registration. 

Your application for residential care home approval must also include the following information for each care home: 

  •  the name of the residential care home
  •  the street address of the residential care home
  •  the name of the responsible person in charge of the residential care home
  • a copy of the certificate of occupancy or equivalent certificate for the residential care home, or any other document that relates to the total number of beds in the care home
  • documentary evidence (such as floor plans and designs) demonstrating that the building or buildings that comprise the residential care home are permanent and will not present a risk to the delivery of safe residential care.
