Authorisation to Provide a Booking Service - New South Wales

Description

You will need this authorisation if you intend to provide a booking service for taxis or hire cars. Providing a booking service means taking bookings for taxis or hire vehicles, and communicating information to drivers for passenger services.

A booking service includes taking the booking and driving the passenger transport yourself, or arranging for another person to do so. Electronic bookings are still considered to be a passenger service.

The following are examples of booking services:

  • ridesharing companies
  • a business that takes bookings which are performed by taxis
  • hire car companies that take bookings
  • individuals that take bookings, like an independent taxi driver.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

If you intend to drive a wheelchair accessible passenger transport, you will be required to be competent in loading and unloading of wheelchair passenger.

You may not be eligible to drive a passenger transport vehicle if you have been found guilty of offences such as murder, assault, domestic violence, offences involving firearms, fraud, or drug supply.

If your previous authority has been cancelled, or your application has been rejected in the last ten years, you will may ineligible to drive a passenger transport vehicle.
