Authorisation to Provide a Booking Service - New South Wales

Description

You will need this authorisation if you intend to provide a booking service for taxis, hire cars and rideshare vehicles.

Booking service providers include:

  • businesses that provide phone and internet booking services to taxi and hire vehicles providing passenger services
  • taxi and hire vehicle drivers who take bookings directly from customers.

A booking service includes taking the booking on behalf of another person / driver or driving the passenger transport yourself.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To become a booking service provider, you must:

  • not have committed a serious offence, and you must not be facing charges for a serious offence (such as murder, assault and drug supply)
  • not have had an application for an accreditation or authorisation under the Passenger Transport Act 1990 or Passenger Transport Act 2014 refused within the last 12 months
  • not have had an accreditation or an authorisation to operate a taxi network or a public passenger service cancelled or most recent application refused.
