Licence to Import Explosives and / or Security Sensitive Dangerous Substances - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you are an individual or company that intends to import (and if approved, export) explosives and / or security sensitive dangerous substances. Security sensitive dangerous substances refers to security sensitive ammonium nitrate. Explosives include:

  • Class 1 dangerous goods
  • goods too dangerous to be transported
  • articles or substances that, when manufactured, mixed, transported or assembled, can produce an explosive or pyrotechnic effect.

This licence authorises you to carry out the following activities in relation to explosives or security sensitive dangerous substances:

  • import into NSW from another country
  • supply (including exporting), at the premises (if any) specified in the licence
  • purchase or possess for the purpose of importing from another country
  • storing explosives at a premises.

Please be aware that this licence does not authorise transportation of explosives and / or security sensitive dangerous substances. If you intend to transport explosives and / or security sensitive dangerous substances, you must obtain a licence to transport by vehicle, vessel or aircraft licence.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • hold a current security clearance
  • have a legitimate reason for importing the explosives / substances
  • have a security plan
  • ensure you only supply to people authorised under the explosives regulation to receive explosives / substances
  • have necessary qualifications, knowledge and experience to hold this licence and provide details of this.

If you are applying as a corporation, you must nominate at least one individual who will be responsible for the activities to be authorised by the licence.
