Licence to Inject or Apply Polymeric Material - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to inject or apply polymeric material for the purpose of ventilation or strata control in a coal mine. Licences may be granted for ongoing use or trial applications.

The regulations designate certain activities as high risk. The operator of a coal mine is required to notify the agency before a high risk activity commences. Each high risk activity also has a waiting period which must elapse before the activity can commence.

The agency may also specify that a specific high risk activity can only be carried out by a person who holds the relevant licence. Injecting or applying polymeric material for the purpose of ventilation or strata control in a coal mine is considered a high risk activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must provide evidence that:

  • the work will be carried out by competent people with experience in injecting or applying polymeric material
  • you have safe work methods for injection or application of the polymeric material that comply with the findings of a risk assessment and conditions of the certification of polymeric material
  • you have a documented risk management system in place that is consistent with AS / NZS ISO 31000: 2018 Risk Management - Principles and Guideline or another health and safety management system consistent with Australian / New Zealand Standard AS / NZS 4804:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems - General guidelines on principles, systems and supporting techniques
  • you have a quality system that is certified under AS / NZS ISO 9001 for your operations
  • you have conducted a surface trial of the polymeric material and the relevant system.
