Offshore Retention Lease for Petroleum - New South Wales

Description

If you hold an exploration permit for petroleum you can apply for a lease to undertake commercial petroleum mining on specified blocks. This lease applies to activities within three nautical miles from the NSW coast.

This lease allows you to explore and recover petroleum, and to carry out operations and works within the leased area. This lease is granted if the recovery of petroleum is not currently commercially viable, but is likely to become commercially viable within 15 years.

Please be aware that a lease may be granted subject to conditions. Types of conditions include conditions with respect to work carried out in the specified area, or the amounts expended.
