Poppy Cultivation Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to grow alkaloid poppies. This licence authorises you and your employees to:

  • cultivate and harvest alkaloid poppies
  • prepare and treat poppy material harvested under your licence
  • conduct scientific research, analysis, education or training using poppies or material harvested under your licence
  • supply poppies or material cultivated or harvested under your licence to holders of poppy processing licences
  • store and transport poppies and poppy material for a purpose authorised by your licence.

This licence does not authorise the extraction or production of prohibited drugs from poppies or poppy material.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • present a risk management plan for the activities you propose to undertake under your licence
  • present a description of the arrangements for the use of all poppies or poppy material procured under your licence, and supply a copy of any contractual agreements relevant to those arrangements
  • ensure that the location, facilities and security arrangements of the premises to be used for the purposes of your licence are suitable for those purposes
  • be 18 or older
  • not have been convicted of a serious offence in the previous ten years
  • be financially solvent
  • be a fit and proper person.
