Private Hire Car Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence to operate a Private Hire Car (PHC) for hire or reward.

A private hire car is a motor vehicle that is used with the services of a driver for the carriage of fare-paying passengers. PHCs can carry up to eight passengers.

PHC operators must comply with the Private Hire Car In-Service Maintenance Standards. PHCs are only permitted to accept pre-booked hiring unless the hiring commences from a designated rank, or from an approved function/event.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to for this licence you must:

  • hold an NT driver licence with 'H' endorsement
  • hold Commercial Passenger Vehicle Operator Accreditation
  • be the holder of a current Commercial Passenger Vehicle ID Card with private hire car endorsed against the ID Card.
