To be eligible for registration you must:
- have a current precious stones prospecting permit
- peg out your claim.
You may not peg an opal development lease within a precious stones field unless the land is:
- within a designated area
- not within 500 m of a registered tenement at the time of pegging
- not over ground previously disturbed by mining operations.
Your application for an opal development lease will be assessed according to the suitability of the land for a lease, and will involve an inspection of the area.
You cannot have more than one area pegged out for an opal development lease at any one time.
