You will need this licence to manufacture explosives or explosive mixture. An explosive mixture is a mixture of an oxidising agent and a fuel component.
Explosives do not include any safety or emergency system or device that is activated by explosives. Examples of such equipment are airbags, fire extinguishers, life rafts and passenger evacuation slides. This licence entitles you to make explosives of particular kinds and classifications, up to specified quantities.
This licence may also give permission to store, sell or import explosives.
The licence to manufacture explosives consolidates four previous licences:
- licence to manufacture explosives at a factory
- licence to manufacture explosives with a mobile manufacturing unit (MMU)
- licence to manufacture an explosive mixture at a central mixing point or other place at point of application or use
- licence to fill or cap safety cartridges at a place other than a factory.
If you hold one of these licences that was issued prior to 26 June 2011, you can continue to operate under this licence until it expires. You will then be able to renew your licence and convert it to a licence to manufacture explosives.
One licence is required per vehicle for mobile manufacturing units.
