A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

The premises must be registered as a pharmacy premises before you can open your business.

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

• be a registered pharmacist (if you are applying as an individual)
• apply on behalf of a company whose directors are all registered pharmacists and in which all shares are held by registered pharmacists
• ensure that your facilities, equipment, security and management will comply with good pharmacy practice and legislative requirements.

A registered pharmacist, or pharmacy company, cannot own nor have a financial interest in more than five separate pharmacy businesses.

Complete information on eligibility will be required as part of the application process. You will need to provide documentation of the following:

• proof of the qualifications and registration status of all proposed business operators and managers
• details of the business structure and property leases
• services and activities to be on offer
• operations, premises and security plans
• insurance and staffing arrangements.
