Pharmacy Department Licence - Victoria


You will need this licence to operate a pharmacy department. A pharmacy department is part of a community health centre, hospital or other registered funded health service set aside for supplying, compounding or dispensing medicines to patients and staff.

Before you can start dispensing medicine, your premises will also need to be registered separately as a pharmacy. A pharmacy department must be personally supervised by a registered pharmacist at all times it is open for business.

Eligibility requirements

Only registered funded agencies, registered community health centres, and private hospitals are eligible to apply for this licence. The Agency must be satisfied that your pharmacy department complies with good pharmacy practice and meets applicable legislative requirements.

As part of the application process you will be required to provide the Agency with certain documentation and information.
