Description

You will need this licence if you intend to pilot the movement of heavy vehicles on public roads in Western Australia. Heavy vehicles requiring pilotage include over size and/or over mass vehicles.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • hold a current non-probationary C class driver's licence
  • pass an Assessment of Fitness to Drive for Commercial Drivers examination
  • pass a Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Pilot training course from a registered training provider.

In addition to your completed application you must submit:

  • your statement of attainment issued to you by your registered training provider (in the case of renewals, you must instead submit a certificate of attendance)
  • a medical assessment of fitness to drive for commercial drivers form filled out by your medical practitioner
  • any other information requested by the Authority
  • the prescribed fee.

Approval time

Please allow 30 working days for new applications and 10 working days for renewal applications.
