Passenger Transport Driver Authorisation - Western Australia

Description

You will need this authorisation if you intend to drive a vehicle for hire or reward. A Passenger Transport Declaration (PTD) authorisation is an annual authorisation that allows you to drive a vehicle for the purpose of transporting passengers for hire or reward.

If you do not currently hold an F or T extension licence, you must apply for this licence before providing driving services for fee or reward.

Exemptions

You will not need this licence if you:

  • drive as a volunteer
  • drive as a volunteer and have your costs reimbursed at a rate of $0.68 per kilometre
  • are employed by a transport service provider, but driving is incidental to your main occupation
  • drive in your capacity as a child care service operator or provider
  • drive in a carpooling situation with nine or fewer people.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be at least 20 years old
  • hold a current and valid WA driver's licence
  • have held a driver's licence (including in another jurisdiction) for at least three years
  • not have committed a disqualifying offence
  • provide a current national police check
  • provide a current medical assessment certificate.
