You need this authorisation if you operate a hotel or club and intend to provide gaming machines for public use (for example, poker machines or any other approved progressive gaming devices).
A hotel is a licensed business whose primary purpose is the sale of alcohol to the public for consumption on or off the premises. A club is an organisation that is dedicated to a particular interest or activity (for example, a sporting club).
This authorisation allows you to keep an approved gaming machine. This authorisation sets out the total number of approved gaming machines that you are allowed to keep on your premises at any one time, as well how you are allowed to keep particular machines on your premises.
Please note that you also need to apply for a gaming machine threshold (GMT) and purchase gaming machine entitlements (GME) before you can apply for authorisation to provide any gaming machines for public use. Your GMT sets the maximum number of GME you are able to purchase. The number of GME's held allows for the number of gaming machines you are able to obtain an authorisation for and provide to the public. Until you have received approval, your GMT is set at zero (meaning that you are not allowed to provide any gaming machines for public use).
