Licence to Store Explosives and / or Security Sensitive Dangerous Substances - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you are an individual or company and intend to store explosives and / or security sensitive dangerous substances at premises. Security sensitive dangerous substances currently refers to security sensitive ammonium nitrate. Explosives include:

  • Class 1 dangerous goods
  • goods too dangerous to be transported
  • articles or substances that, when manufactured, mixed, transported or assembled, can produce an explosive or pyrotechnic effect.

Specifically, this licence allows you to:

  • store explosives / substances at the premises and for the period specified in the licence
  • purchase explosives / substances for the purpose of storing them under the licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • hold a current security clearance and be able to ensure only people with this clearance have unsupervised access
  • have a legitimate reason for storing the explosives or substances
  • have the qualifications, experience and knowledge necessary for the licence
  • have made adequate arrangements for the safe and secure handling and storage of explosives or substance.

If you are applying as a corporation, you must nominate at least one individual who will be responsible for the activities to be authorised by the licence.
