Registration of a Firearm - Victoria


All firearms must be registered with Victoria Police. It is illegal to have an unregistered firearm in your possession. A permit to acquire as well as an appropriate firearms licence is required to purchase, possess, carry and use a firearm in Victoria.

Only certain antique firearms manufactured before 1900 are exempt from registration. If you believe your firearm is exempt from registration you must take it to an authorised firearm identifier for assessment.
